STEP UNIT &
DRILL TEAM 2010 RULES AND REGULATIONS
GENERAL RULES
& REGULATIONS
Each unit or
team should consist of at least 12 and not more than 32 members
total. All members must be at least 10 years of age.
All units must carry an identifying banner or sign. The banner or sign must be professionally produced.
All marching
units must maintain forward motion. Parade marshals instructions must be followed.
Counter marching, reverse
marching and/or stopping the forward motion of the parade
without specific instructions to do so is prohibited.
All
performances must be in good taste compatible with the
Carolinas’ Carrousel’s mission to enhance our community life
through quality family-oriented entertainment and the promotion
of academic and artistic excellence. Routines and /or
expressions of a lewd, obscene nature are expressly prohibited.
Likewise, actions portraying violent, abusive and/or offensive
behavior are not appropriate. A
Conduct Agreement
form must be signed and included with Application.
Unit supervisors marching with the unit (i.e.,
First Aid team, etc.) must:
- Be
confined to a minimum number and included in the unit’s Data
Sheet member count.
- Wear
coordinating attire that identifies them with their
respective unit.
- Follow
parade officials’ instructions as to their position of march
to help ensure that the view of the unit itself is not
obstructed along the entire parade route and especially in
the telecast area.
PARADE PRIZES
The following prizes will be awarded to outstanding groups participating in the parade:
- $250 to the best-performing Step/Drill Team (Rhythmic dance/movement; no band or percussion accompaniment)
- $250 to the best-performing Step & Rhythm (Rhythmic dance/movement; percussion accompaniment, no band) or Show Band (Other bands that do not march in traditional military style)
INSURANCE
REQUIREMENTS
All entrants must provide evidence of current Comprehensive
General Liability Insurance including Contractual Liability
(Limits of $1,000,000 Bodily Injury and Property Damage combined
in an insurance company with a Best’s rating of A or A+ is a
minimum requirement). Entries
lacking insurance will not be considered.
RELEASE AND
INDEMNITY
All entrants must sign and return a provided
Release and Indemnity Form agreeing to indemnify
Carolinas’ Carrousel, Inc., its officers, directors and
employees and hold them harmless with respect to all defenses
that they shall be required to make in connection with any claim
or action arising out of the participants’ involvement with the
parade and/or other festival activities.
CONDITIONS OF
ELIGIBILITY
- Participants must be 10 years of age or older.
- Each
participant must be uniformly dressed; uniforms must be neat
and clean.
- Each unit
or team should consist of not less than 12 or more than 32
members.
This total number is to include steppers/drillers as well as
flag unit, banner carriers, percussionists, supervisors and
auxiliary units.
- Each unit
or team should demonstrate their ability to march in
formation with straight lines, keeping in step with the
music and performing in precision.
- Entire
routine must not be less than 3 ½ minutes nor more than 5
minutes in length.
VIDEO AND
PHOTOGRAPH REQUIREMENTS
- All
applicants must include a color photograph of each uniform
type worn within the group (including flag unit, banner
carriers, supervisors and all auxiliary units).
- Each group
must submit a video (VHS or DVD) of its routine. The video
must show all equipment to be used in the parade.
- Adults
that will accompany the group in their parade performance
must also be included in the video.
NOTES:
Participation in the Belk Carolinas’ Carrousel Parade is by
INVITATION ONLY. The Parade organizing committee reserves the
right to limit the total number of units of all types (floats,
marching bands, step units/drill teams, special units) that will
be included in parade.
Step
Units/Drill Teams invited to participate in the parade will be
required to submit an entry fee of $50.00. |
