Through the years Carolinas' Carrousel, Inc. has given representatives from area high schools the opportunity to compete for numerous scholarships that will help them fund their college education.

The Carolinas' Carrousel Scholarship program is not to be considered a beauty pageant. The program recognizes academic excellence, community involvement, character and presentation.

Under the auspices of the Carrousel Scholarship Fund, awards include five cash scholarships ($3,000, $2,000, $1,600, $800, and $700). Additional grant opportunities from various colleges and universities may also be presented.

Here's how the program works:

  • Invitations are extended in the spring to area high schools. These invitations to participate and information packets for the 2013 program were sent to area high schools in April 2013. The deadline for registering for the 2013 Carrousel Scholarship Program was extended to Friday, September 20.
  • Participation is capped at 60 High Schools.
  • Schools that participated in the previous year have priority.
  • There is not an "open" category of participation in this program. Representatives must be selected by their respective school.
  • Each high school selects one Representative to participate. Carolinas' Carrousel, Inc. does not dictate how the school selects its representative, however we do require that all representatives meet our basic Conditions of Eligibility and be selected in time to meet the Carrousel program’s deadlines (see Carrousel Scholarship Program Important Dates).
  • A panel of judges will determine the scholarship recipients based upon the representatives' applications, academic records, personal essays and interviews (see Scoring Outline).
