2010 CAROLINAS' CARROUSEL MARCHING BAND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In keeping with our goal to expand and improve the Carolinas'
Carrousel, reward student achievement and support marching bands
in our region, we are pleased to continue the Marching Band
Scholarship Awards Program.
The program includes three (3) matching grant scholarships and
the
Robert L. Maddox Music Scholarship.
The matching grant scholarships provide cash to individual band
members and their respective bands.
The Robert L. Maddox Music Scholarship ($2,000) is given to one
individual student who is planning to major in music.
Three matching grant scholarships will be awarded as follows:

Conditions of eligibility:
1. The applicant must be a senior in a high school marching band
that is participating in the current year's Carolinas'
Thanksgiving Day Parade.
2. The applicant must demonstrate superior scholastic attainment
with a minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
3. The applicant must demonstrate moral force of character,
leadership ability and an interest in his/her fellow students
and the community.
4. The applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from
their band director and one other school official or community
leader.
5. Students applying for the Robert L. Maddox Music scholarship
must meet all the above requirements and be planning to major in
music.

Applications must be received at the Carrousel Office by 4:00pm
Friday, October 15, 2010. Awards will be announced at our
Carolinas' Carrousel Awards Ceremony on the Wednesday evening
before the parade as well as during the parade telecast on
Thanksgiving Day.
The Selection Committee will consist of four (4) band professionals. They will be seeking out a
well-rounded student who has marching band experience and demonstrates leadership qualities,
dedication to excellence, and above average academic
achievement.
The individual's scholarship award must be used for continuing
education beyond high school and will be sent to the college or
technical school of the student's choice. The band's matching
award will be sent to the school and may be used at the
discretion of the Band Director for the further improvement of
their band program.
We at Carolinas' Carrousel are ever mindful of the efforts that
marching bands put forth in training and preparing their
performances and we look forward to providing this new avenue of
recognition and reward. There is no limit to the number of
students (Seniors only) that may apply from a participating
(current year) band. The
Band Scholarship Application may be copied and/or scanned,
however, it must stay in the format presented. Additional copies
are also available upon request from the Carolinas’ Carrousel,
Inc. office.
