GENERAL INFORMATION
The Carolinas' Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition since 1947,
is one of the largest get-togethers of Carolinians that takes
place during the year. It boasts participation from both
Carolinas and touches approximately half a million people from
the 22-county metro area. In 2008, TravelMuse.com named the Carolinas' Thanksgiving Day Parade as the fourth largest in the United States.
The
parade is presented by the Carolinas' Carrousel, Inc., a
non-profit organization that recognizes many talented young
people for their achievements and talents through its
scholarship programs, the Queen's Scholarship Program and the Band Scholarship Program.

The parade is telecast regionally on
WBTV, Channel 3 (CBS).
The parade will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009,
at 10 AM.
Parade route: Begins at Tryon at 9th, turns left onto 3rd and
ends between Davidson and McDowell on 3rd.
Coming Uptown to the Parade?
Many area residents come uptown to share in the excitement of the Carolinas’ Thanksgiving Day Parade first-hand. We now have a couple of mass transit options to make the trip uptown convenient and easy.
We suggest that you ride CATS buses or the LYNX Blue Line to the Parade. Round-trip fare is $3 for adults. Discounted fares for students, seniors and the disabled are available. Children under 5 ride free.
Buses arrive uptown one block from the Parade route and the LYNX Blue line has a station at 3rd Street providing access to the main route of the Parade.
